Choosing the appropriate veil can be tricky.
Where to start?
First start with the length. Try out a variety of lengths when going for your first dress fitting to see what works best with the flow of your dress. You can also have a veil tailored made for your gown.
Shorter veils tend to give a more informal or retro look, where as a longer veil is more formal & traditional.
The style & color must obviously suit your wedding dress. Choose a complimentary color to that of your dress. It does not have to match exactly to your gown, just more or less.
Make sure to get the balance right with embellishments. If your dress is heavily embellished, keep your veil simple & plain. If your dress is simple that allows you to be more extravagant & daring with your veil.
Tulle is always a good option when choosing the fabric of your veil. It also keeps the shape better.
Before deciding on your veil, you need to know what hairstyle you are going to have. Like if you are going to have a halo or bridal cap veil, hair worn down or a low up do will look better. Where blushers & birdcages are a lot more versatile & can be worn with most hairstyles.
